Dress Your Child Right this Monsoon

The rainy season in India beginning from June and lasting till October is one of the most celebrated seasons. The smell of fresh mud, the light drizzle on the window pane and the hot and spicy delicacies that go along make Monsoons one of the most ideal seasons. However this is also one of the most dangerous seasons spreading diseases like dengue and malaria. Children are most prone to all these infections as their immunity system is still developing. One of the simplest ways to safeguard your children from these taints is to dress them right.

The Perfect Attire
The climate during the rainy season oscillates between hot and cold, in a matter of hours. The day might begin with a scorching sun and end by being cold and windy post the rains. When the climate is hot and clammy it is recommended to dress your baby in loose, cotton clothes. This gives the skin some space to breathe and keeps your baby comfortable at all times. When it is cold and windy it is safest to dress your baby in warm woolen clothes or jackets. Sometimes even two-three layers of clothes are advisable.

The Perfect Footwear
Children love having fun and getting messy in the mud. Instead of stopping them and making them begrudge you, it would just be simpler to take a few precautions. The most ideal footwear for children during the monsoons is ‘gumboots’. Not rickety plastic, open shoes or flip-flops but ankle length or even knee length gumboots. When worn with socks keeps the child’s feet warm and dry at all points of time. Your children can then play in puddles and revel in the rainy season like they should! You also need to make sure that the gumboots have a firm sole so as to sidestepwounds by falling down. ‘Rubber’ and ‘vinyl rain shoes’ could also work as long as they conceal your baby’s feet.

Things to Remember

The atmosphere in general during the monsoon is exceedinglydamp and as such it takes a lot of time for clothes to dry. Being assured that your baby wear’s dry clothes is vital to elude rashes or skin infections which during the monsoons are quite common.

Whenever you plan a day out with your baby make sure to carry aspareset of clothes to ensure that no matter what your baby will not have to stay in wet clothes as that could end in fever or cold and cough.

the most imperative of all is to remember you should make your baby wear clothes that cover their body at all times to evade mosquito bites which are frequently the causes for ailments like malaria and dengue. Keep yourself stress free this monsoon by picking the right clothes for your babies and let them take in the best of the season along with you.
